South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG) - formation established by seven participating nations in order to contribute to the regional security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area

Participation of SEEBRIG personnel to EADRCC exercise “NORTH MACEDONIA 2021” in Ohrid/ Na-5, 20-23th of September 2021

The exercise “NORTH MACEDONIA 2021”, co-organized by NATO’s Euro Atlantic Disater Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) and the Crisis Menagment Centre of North Macedonia and was held in Ohrid and Struga/Na-5 from 20-23th of September 2021.

SEEBRIG Commander BG Aristeidis ILIOPOULOS participated in VIP Symposium on “Civil-Military Support to a Civil Emergency” and “Lessons from Disaster Response under Covid -19 Conditions” with views by panelists and moderated discussion between high-level NATO representatives, alied and partner nations, international organisations and non-govermental organisations.

15 Alied and partner nations, the Balcan Medical Task Force (BMTF), the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Initiative for South-Eastern Europe (DPPI SEE) contributed in this consequence management exercise with their elements.

This training event aimed to train and exercise procedures for the Local Emergency Menagement Authority (LEMA), besides the UN models for the On-Site Operation Coordination Centre (OSOCC), as well as Urban Search and Rescue Coordination Cell (UCC) and the Emergency Medical Teams Coordination Cell (EMTCC).

LTC Atanas LEFTEROV participated in the exercise as an evaluator and LTC Theodoros VOZIKIS and MAJ Zlatko ORDEVSKI participated as a part of Civil Military Cooperation Cell.

Participation on exercise “NORTH MACEDONIA 2021” provides a good opportunity for SEEBRIG to increase its visibility among the participating countries, to enhance the interaction with related organizations and to get valuable experience and knowledge for any further use.
