South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG) - formation established by seven participating nations in order to contribute to the regional security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area

SEEBRIG Participation on exercise “MAPLE ARCH 2023” (MA 23) – STRENGTHENING COOPERATION AND INTEROPERABILITY

Exercise “MAPLE ARCH 2023” (MA 23) is an annual training event, organized this year by Georgia with Canada mentorship and multinational contributions. The aims of the exercise are to foster international military relations, increase interoperability among participating nations, deepening ties in the field of defense between the partner countries, getting closer to the NATO standards in planning and implementing peacekeeping operations and improving the decision-making skills. This year the exercise was held from 25 November to 15 December 2023 at Krtsanisi Training Area (KTA) of the Georgian Defense Forces. Three SEEBRIG personnel participated in this exercise from 07 to 15 December 2023.

The aim of the exercise is to train battalion headquarters staff of selected units (regional and LITPOLUKRBRIG affiliated) to plan and conduct Peace Support Operations (PSO) under UN Contingency Mandate and the leadership of the Command Post of LITPOLUKRBRIG. It’s a Computer-based Command Post Exercise, where headquarters staff train in command and control of subordinate units in simulated-realistic operations, such as peace support operations, humanitarian assistance, crisis response and to transform the PSO in defensive operations. This exercise was successfully executed with participation of Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Georgia as host nation and SEEBRIG, under Canadian mentorship.

Exercise “MA 23” was a great opportunity for SEEBRIG HQ participants to work together with LITPOLUKRBRIG HQ and Georgian Armed Forces personnel and Canadian mentors, to improve their skills and prepare themselves for starting the planning process for the exercise “SEVEN STARS 24” (SEST24), SEEBRIG’s main training activity in 2024.

SEEBRIG Commander, together with other high-ranking officers, attended the exercise on Distinguished Visitors Day.
