South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG) - formation established by seven participating nations in order to contribute to the regional security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area

South-Eastern Defense Ministerial Meeting, 18th Oct 16, Rome, Italy

 South-Eastern Defense Ministerial (SEDM) meeting was held in Rome, Italy, on 18th of October 2016 with the representatives of all SEDM countries, which strongly determined to promote enduring peace, stability and security in the region of Southeastern Europe through the SEDM process. SEEBRIG participated in the meeting with the delegation headed by the Commander of SEEBRIG, Brigadier General Faruk METIN.

     SEDM Ministers appreciated the report of COMSEEBRIG, Brigadier General Faruk METIN, on SEEBRIG activities and achievements in 2016. It was emphasized the importance of the efforts to enhance SEEBRIG effectiveness as a mechanism to actively contribute to security, cooperation and stability within the SEDM Process in general, and seeking the most appropriate ways for SEEBRIG engagement in various activities, including training and in particular, operations. He underlined the necessity of consolidation and optimization of SEEBRIG relationship with NATO and other international organizations.
At the meeting, the SEDM Ministers appreciated reached consensus regarding further SEEBRIG HQ location. It is decided that SEEBRIG HQ will remain in Larissa until 2020 when it will relocate in Skopje for the period 2020-2026. The Ministers recognized the PMSC Chairmanship’s efforts aimed at finding a solution acceptable to all related parties.
