South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG) - formation established by seven participating nations in order to contribute to the regional security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area

SEEBRIG HQ staff visit to UN HQs in New York, USA, 25-28 March 2019

One SEEBRIG delegation headed by the Commander BG Tudorică PETRACHE, conducted an official visit to United Nations Headquarters – Department of Peace Operations (DPO) in New York – USA from 25th to 28th of March 2019.

During the meeting, representatives from Office of Military Affairs/DPO provided a briefing about the current UN peacekeeping operations, DPO structure, mission and responsibilities. On this occasion, SEEBRIG delegation members got insights about Current Military Operations Service (CMOS) and Policy and Doctrine Team (PDT) core functions, tasks and products.
In accordance with the MPFSEE Agreement which states that SEEBRIG is available to UN for employment in conflict prevention and in other peace support operations, including peace keeping, peacemaking, peace building, humanitarian operations and disaster relief operations, SEEBRIG Commander presented an information briefing about SEEBRIG historical background, main activities, challenges and way ahead.
Moreover, COMSEEBRIG had the privilege to meet with H.E. Mr. Ambassador Dr. Ion Jinga – Permanent Representative of Romania to UN and to discuss topics on things of general interest.
This working visit was a good opportunity for SEEBRIG to strengthen the cooperation with UN and to reaffirm the availability of its capabilities for promoting regional stability and security.
