COVID-19 – The Role of Armed Forces in Support of Civilian Society, SEEBRIG webinar on 15th of December 2021

SEEBRIG hosted a Webinar with the topic “COVID-19 – The Role of Armed Forces in Support of Civilian Society”, on 15th of December 2021 via SEDM portal.

The webinar was attended by represenatives from all SEEBRIG nations (except Na-1), Deputy Minister of Defense from Na-5, representative from MoH from Na-5 and representative of CMDR COE from Sofia.

The aim of Webinar was to exchange information and experience in order to raise the awareness and to share experiences, approaches and practices on the role of armed forces in dealing with the effects of COVID-19.

During the webinar all participant shared their experiences through the presentations. So far, many lessons have been learned that should serve to reflect on and adapt response structures to build trust in the face of future threats in an uncertain scenario and it’s important for us not to reduce our operational capabilities and readiness.

In this regard, analyzing and learning from a pandemic is important from the perspective of common defense and interoperability. This can help increase the resources available to the armed forces to support the civilian population. Even if the armed forces are not designed for these specific tasks, further developing readiness for such interventions will be vital and will increase the security of all.

By holding this Webinar, SEEBRIG had a great opportunity to increase its visibility among other organizations and enhance the mutual trust and cooperation. Sharing the information on the Webinar will be of importance for further fight against the effects of similar future threats, in the context of building resilience of societies.
