BIOGRAPHY OF BRIGADIER GENERAL Faruk METİN
Brigadier General Faruk METİN, assumed duty as the 10th Commander of the Multinational Peace Forces South-Eastern Europe (SEEBRIG) on 17 October 2016.
Brigadier General Faruk METİN was born in Akyurt/Ankara in 1962. He graduated from Turkish Military Academy in 1985 as an an artillery officer and from the Artillery and Missile School in 1986.
Brigadier General Faruk METİN served at various units as a platoon and a company commander till 1999 and completed Army War College education in 2001, which he started in 1999.
Between 2001 and 2003, he served as G-3 of 9th Armored Brigade during which he completed Armed Forces College in 2002.
Between 2003 and 2005, he served as 2nd Mountaineering and Commando Battalion Commander at Mountaineering and Commando Brigade in Hakkari. While serving as Battalion Commander, he took part in many military operations under adverse conditions in the mountainous terrain, covered by deep snow, in the southeastern part of Na-7.
Between 2005 and 2006, he served as a Planning Officer and Chief of Command & Control Branch, Operations Division at 1st Army Headquarters in Istanbul.
Between 2006 and 2009, he served as Army Planning Officer and Defence Planning/Logistics & Resource Officer at Turkish Military Representative (TMR) within NATO in Brussels/Belgium.
Between 2009 and 2011, he served as a Branch Chief and Division in the 3rd Army in Erzincan.
Between 2011 and 2016, he served as Chief of Military Operations and Unit Incidents Center of Turkish Armed Forces Command and Operations Center in Turkish General Staff Operations Division in Ankara. He was promoted as Head of Military Training Cooperation Department in 2015. He graduated from Vocational School of Justice, Anadolu University in 2016.
Brigadier General Faruk METİN is married to Nesrin METİN with two children. He speaks English.
