South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG) - formation established by seven participating nations in order to contribute to the regional security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area

Peace Support Operations Orientation Course, 15 – 18 May 2023, Kumanovo/Na-5

According to Annual Plan 2023, South-Eastern Europe Brigade HQ (SEEBRIG HQ) and Multinational Peace Support Operations Centre (MPSOTC) organized a Peace Support Operations Orientation Course to SEEBRIG HQ Nucleus staff from 15 to 18 May 2023 at its premises, “Boro Menkov camp”, Kumanovo. Furthermore, one civilian representative of the municipality of Kumanovo took part in the training along HQ personnel.

COMSEEBRIG BG Evangelos MITROUTSIKOS welcomed the Course Directors during the office call and after a short introduction, he announced the beginning of the Course, the second collective training activity for the year 2023.

The aim of the Course was to enhance HQ personnel knowledge and skills in order to be capable to fulfill SEEBRIG’s mission, during employment in conflict prevention and in other peace support operations, including peace-keeping, peace-making and peace-building.

A training team of 5 Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) provided the theoretical background on issues relevant to UN Doctrines, Legal Framework of PSO and Law of Armed Conflicts, while also covering crucial operational techniques as Personal security, observation posts and patrolling. Moreover Voices from the Field transferred their experiences and best practices from NATO and EU missions in topics as Media Awareness, Liaison Mobile Teams and Crisis Management. Additional, there were training sessions covering the Gender Mainstreaming in PSO and Cultural Awareness.

At the end of the aforementioned activity, COM SEEBRIG congratulated the Course Directors and instructors for their high educational level and he underlined that this intensive training was productive and fruitful for all the participants.
