Protecting cultural property preserves cultural heritage of mankind

According to Annual Plan 2023, South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG) and a Mobile Training Team (MTT) from Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR-COE) organized a Cultural Property Protection (CPP) Collective Training Course to SEEBRIG HQ Nucleus Staff from 07 to 09 November 2023 at its premises, “Camp Boro Menkov”, Kumanovo. Additionally, 2 civilian representatives of the municipality of Kumanovo took part in the training along HQ personnel.

COS SEEBRIG COL Zlatko GJORGJIOVSKI welcomed the instructors during the office call and after a short introduction, he announced the beginning of the course, the fourth collective training activity for the current year.

The aim of the Course was to deepen HQ personnel knowledge regarding the implementation of rules governing the protection of cultural property and prevent it from being destructed, pillaged, looted or illicitly trafficked.

A training team of 4 Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) provided the theoretical background on the cultural, historical and religious dimensions of CPP, while also covered key concepts.  Moreover, Voices from the Field transferred their experiences and best practices.

At the end of the aforementioned activity, COS SEEBRIG congratulated the Course Director and instructors for their high educational level and he underlined that the training was productive and fruitful for all the participants.
