South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG) - formation established by seven participating nations in order to contribute to the regional security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area

The 55th Politico-Military Steering Committee (PMSC) and the 54th South-Eastern Europe Defense Ministerial Coordination Committee (SEDM-CC) Meeting

The 55th PMSC and the 54th SEDM-CC Meeting was held in Chania, Crete, the Hellenic Republic, on 18- 19 March 2026. The Steering Committee convened for its biannual meeting, bringing together representatives from Member Nations and Reginal Organizations to review progress and set priorities for the time ahead.

COMSEEBRIG, BG Bitri, presented the HQ’ main activities and key achievements since the last PMSC meeting in September 2025. Highlighting the importance of training, exercises, courses, and other activities to sustain and enhance the operational planning capability, COMSEEBRIG emphasized that Readiness, Relevance, and Relocation will remain at the center of the HQ’ efforts throughout the year 2026.

As part of the briefing, LTC Gerovski, SEEBRIG’s Chief Planner, presented an overview of the HQ’ capabilities through the lenses of DOTMLPF-I construct.

Further on, Colonel Dumitrescu, SEEBRIG’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, provided a comprehensive brief on the HQ’ Relocation Plan from the current location, in Kumanovo, North Macedonia to Istanbul, Türkiye, highlighting the main activities, phases, and timelines for this very complex effort.

After the approval of the Relocation Plan, COMSEEBRIG, BG. Bitri used the opportunity to thank the nations for their support and reiterated the importance of permanent coordination and joint effort for a flawless execution of the HQ relocation.

SEDM-CC/ PMSC Chairman, Ambassador a.h. Anghelopoulos, on behalf of all the Members, expressed his appreciation and thanked COMSEEBRIG for his dedication, energetic engagement, and contribution to SEEBRIG, underlining the important role of the SEEBRIG in the efforts for stability in the region. By making SEEBRIG more relevant we contribute to the common goal of the MPFSEE Nations.

Over the course of the sessions, Members reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation, interoperability, and exchange of best practices among SEDM Member Nations by continuing to actively support current and future SEDM projects.
