Gianluigi Magri was born Bologna on September 15th, 1955. Married with Ada Dormi, they have a daughter.

He is enrolled to the Carabinieri National Association and Catholic Medical Doctors Association

Curriculum vitae

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery, Specialist in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, Phd in Experimental Medicine Arteriosclerosis. Currently on leave Full Researcher at Department of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology of University of Bologna.

He collaborated to research projects and plans with OMS, Italian Health Ministry, National Research Council, etc.

In 1992 he was part of Committee of the Guarantors of Local Health Unit of Northern Bologna.

From 1992 to 1994 he was in the Board of Directors of Istituti Ortopedici Rizzoli of Bologna as Italian Ministry of Welfare representative.

From 1994 to 2003 he joined the Assembly of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna (as representative of territorial agencies).

From 1997 to October 2002 he was in the Board of Directors of Finemiro Banca S.p.a. (IMI San Paolo Group).

From 2000 to November 2002 he was in the Board of Directors of SEABO di Bologna (actually HERA), a multiutility company working in the energy, water an refusals treatment sector.

From February 2003 to May 2005 he was Undersecretary of State to the Ministry Economy and Finances during Berlusconi Government.

He attended, as Minister delegate, to the International meetings during the semester of the Italian Presidency of European Union Council, and to several international staff meetings of political economics ( ASEM, G20, etc).

During the semester of the Italian Presidency of European Union Council, he also presided the Ecofin Budget Council preparing and  discussing the first European budget including 25 countries, that he has finally signed in December 2003 together with the President of the European parliament, Pat Cox.

He also led the Italian Delegation as representative of Italian Presidency of European Union on July 5th and 6th , 2003 during the 5th Convenction of Finances Ministers of ASEM in Bali (Indonesia), and on October 26th and 27th , 2003 during the Convenction of Finances Ministers of G20 in Morelia (Mexico).

He was governor of the IFAD (International Fund for the Agriculture Development) from 2003 to 2005.

He represented the Government, on assignment of the Minister, during the parliament discussion of legislative provision concerning  actions and initiatives for the protection of the savings and the discipline of the financial markets.

He also worked, as delegate, at the provision concerning the reorder of the energetic field.

On behalf of decree March 28th, 2003 published in the Official Gazette n. 104 on may 7th, 2003 he was delegate to complete the privatization process of ENEL Company.

He received a prize from Bocconi University Graduates Association as “Manager of the Year 2003 – field Institutions” for the high professionality demonstrated in the exercise of the functions of Undersecretary of State to the Ministry Economy and Finances.

In 2005 he was elected by the Chamber of Deputies Commissioner of National Communications Authority (AGCOM) for Services&Products Commission. On November 28th, 2011 he has been appointed Undersecretary of State to the Ministry of Defence.
