Brigadier General Aristeides ILIOPOULOS was born in Hania, Greece, in 1968 and comes from Peloponnese, Greece. He received his commission in 1989 as a graduate of the Hellenic Military Academy (SSE) as an Infantry 2nd Lieutenant and he has attended all required Infantry Officer Courses.
He has been assigned to numerous operational command and staff positions. He commanded Infantry Mechanized Battalion, the Presidential Guard, the Academy Regiment of the Hellenic Military Academy and Infantry Mechanized Brigade.
Moreover, during his career, he had a tour in Racviac, CROATIA as a Course Director in Training and Verification Division, he served at Ministry of Defense as Staff Officer in the Minister’s Office, at Supreme Military Command of the Interior and Islands as Director in Operation Directorate and at Hellenic Army General Staff, in several headquarters staff positions, including as Deputy Director in Operations Directorate.
He graduated from the Supreme Joint War College, National Defense College as well as the Plymouth University from where he gained a Master of Arts on Applied Strategy & International Security.
He has been awarded all decorations, commendations and medals for his rank.
He is married with Anna MOSCHOU and he has two sons.
