Disaster Management Training, 14 – 17 September 2021, Kumanovo/Na-5
From 14th to 17th of September 2021 a Mobile Training Team (MTT) from Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE)/Na 2, consisting of Mrs. Siyana MIRCHEVA, LTC Sasho ALEKSANDROV, LTC Dobromir DAMAKOV and MAJ Genadi KOLEV, conducted a “Disaster Management Training” for SEEBRIG HQ at “Zanatski Dom” in Kumanovo/Na-5. The use of the training venue was graciously offered free of charge by the Mayor of Kumanovo, Mr. Maksim DIMITRIEVSKI.
COSSEEBRIG Colonel Zlatko GJORGJIOVSKI welcomed the instructors during the office call and after a short introduction, he announced the beginning of the training course, the second collective training activity in HQ SEEBRIG’s new location.
The purpose of the training was the acquisition of basic knowledge related to disasters as phenomenon, as well as the main players and mechanisms in disaster relief in order to facilitate the use of SEEBRIG tool Engineer Task Force – ETF in such operations. Furthermore, with the intention of strengthening the relations with the local community, 3 civilian representatives of the municipality of Kumanovo took part in the training along HQ personnel.
During the training, MTT delivered presentations about disasters theoretical foundation, new disaster environment, NATO Civil Emergency Planning and EU Civil Protection Mechanism. It continued with practical workshops in which SEEBRIG HQ Nucleus Staff was divided in syndicates and tasked to assess upon a fictitious scenario the main natural, technological and human induced hazards.
At the end of the activity, a short closing ceremony took place, where the Mayor of Kumanovo was invited. COS of SEEBRIG Colonel Zlatko GJORGJIOVSKI congratulated the trainers for their high educational level and expressed his thanks to the Mayor of Kumanovo for the kind concession of the training venue and for the good cooperation with SEEBRIG HQ. Moreover, he underlined that the training was productive and fruitful for all the participants.
