South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG) - formation established by seven participating nations in order to contribute to the regional security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area

Press Release Exercise SEVEN STARS 2018

The headquarters of South-Eastern Europe Brigade (HQ SEEBRIG) will conduct the Command Post Exercise/Computer Assisted Exercise – “SEVEN STARS 2018” in Tyrnavos/Larissa, Greece, from 8th to 16th November 2018.

This major exercise, conducted every two years, is the main training activity for SEEBRIG, aiming to improve operational capabilities through exercising HQ SEEBRIG and the assigned units, developing a common understanding of Peace Support Operations (PSO), Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response Operations. More than 150 military and civilian personnel from SEEBRIG Member Nations, augmentees and observers from NATO Rapid Deployable Corps (NRDC) -GR, NRDC-TUR, NRDC-ESP, Lithuanian Polish Ukrainian Brigade, OSCE and Hellenic Red Cross will practice NATO procedures, demonstrate interoperability and exercise command and control procedures within the HQ SEEBRIG and with the Response Cells representing the SEEBRIG affiliated units. All activities will be simulated in SEEBRIG facilities in Tyrnavos/Larissa through computers, maps and war games.

During the last day of the exercise a Distinguished Visitors Day will be conducted, giving the high level political and military guests an opportunity to watch the performance of the participants in the exercise and also dynamic demonstrations of tactical level activities provided by Host Nation troops.

The exercise will strenghten SEEBRIG capability to contribute to peace, cooperation and stability in South-Eastern Europe and will also demonstrate its preparedness for conducting multinational PSOs whenever and wherever requested by UN, OSCE, NATO or EU, upon political approval of the Member Nations.
