South-Eastern European Defense Ministerial (SEDM) meeting, 22 November 2023, Ankara, Na-7
On 22nd November 2023, the South-Eastern European Defense Ministerial (SEDM) meeting was held under the excellent organization of Ankara, Na-7.
This was the first SEDM meeting under the Chairmanship of Bucharest, with the participation of all SEDM nations, as well as representatives of RACVIAC, UNDP/SEESAC and Regional Cooperation Council (RCC).
The meeting was chaired by the Chairperson of SEDM-CC/PMSC Ms. Simona COJUCARU and focused on facing the challenges posed by the current security environment in the region and other parts of the world.
SEEBRIG Commander, BG Bilbil BITRI, presented a summary of the SEEBRIG’s main activities and his vision to increase SEEBRIG’s visibility, enhancing the operational readiness and interoperability to become an active contributor to regional security and stability.
Regarding his vision BG BITRI expressed his willingness to further transformation and adaptation of SEEBRIG in order to meet the challenges of a new security environment and fulfill its mission by contributing to security and wellbeing of people in need.
Member States reaffirmed their commitment to encouraging political and military cooperation in SEE in order to strengthen regional security and stability and agreed on the need to bring SEDM to its full potential by improving the engagement of the SEDM Member States in the political-military dialogue formats and projects within the initiative, as well as by identifying new means to augment SEEBRIG’s resources and capabilities.
Furthermore, full Membership of Republic of Moldova, was approved with the signatures of the Representatives of the 16 Member States on the protocol on 22nd November.
All the topics, programs and projects of SEDM initiatives were discussed in a fruitful atmosphere, friendly spirit, and mutual understanding.
