Study Trip 2024. Getting to know the military and exploring the natural beauty of Na-5
From 24th to 28th of June 2024, personnel from SEEBRIG HQ and their families participated in “Study trip” organized by OPR Team from NA-5.
The purpose of the activity was to get familiar with military installation/ units as well as to explore the unique blend of natural landscapes, Ohrid lake, historical treasures, archaeological sites and warm hospitality.
SEEBRIG HQ personnel visited two military units of Na-5 Army, Command for Training on Water based in Ohrid and 2nd Infantry Battalion/Light Infantry Battalion in which task organization is the Infantry Company affiliated to SEEBRIG, based in Shtip. Presentation of the units and static demonstration of the equipment and capabilities were provided by their respective commanders. Also, the new Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) “Oshkosh” were presented in front of the COMSEEBRIG and the rest of the SEEBRIG HQ Nucleus Staff.
Part of the program was also visiting of different cultural, natural and historical places and sightseeing like Sharena Mosque build in Tetovo during the Ottoman period, where hosts gave a presentation about history of the mosque, “Kamenjane Waterfalls” near Tetovo, and St. Jovan Bigorski Monastery. The personnel had a guided tour in the old town of Ohrid which is protected by UNESCO as world heritage during which several archeological sites and monasteries were visited (The Amphitheater form Roman era, the Tzar Samuel’s fortress from medieval age, churches St. Clement Ohridski, St. Jovan, and St. Sofija.
SEEBRIG HQ personnel and their families made visit to archeological site near Bitola, known as the “Heraclea Lyncestis” and a visit to the city of Dojran where the nature, historical treasures, vibrant culture and the monuments mixed in such manner that leave the visitors delighted. After the celestial experience in Dojran the road took the SEEBRIG Family to the Monastery of Holy Mother of God Eleusa in Veljusa and concluding with the Monastery St. Leontij in Vodocha near the town of Strumica.
The study trip was appreciated as a success from all the participants and COMSEEBRIG express his thanks to the Host Nation for the way this trip was organized and how the personnel was welcomed in all the visited places, leaving a lasting impression on the journey through North Macedonia.
