South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG) - formation established by seven participating nations in order to contribute to the regional security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area

Strengthening Regional Cooperation: SEEBRIG Delegation Meets with KFOR Leadership in Pristina

Commander of the South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG), Brigadier General Bilbil BITRI, held a high-level meeting with Major General Enrico BARDUANI, Commander of the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR), at KFOR Headquarters in Pristina. The engagement served as a platform to discuss shared strategic interests and to explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation, particularly in the domain of Peace Support Operations (PSO) and peacekeeping training and exercises.

During the meeting, both commanders emphasised the importance of interoperability and collaboration between multinational formations operating in the Balkans. Given the alignment in operational mandates—both SEEBRIG and KFOR are tasked with contributing to regional stability through PSO—the dialogue focused on avenues to strengthen mutual coordination, improve joint readiness, and establish frameworks for future joint training initiatives.

A key highlight of the visit was an in-depth briefing delivered by the KFOR Headquarters staff. The presentation provided a comprehensive overview of the mission’s organisational structure, operational tasks, and ongoing activities. This served not only as an informative session but also as a foundation for identifying potential areas of alignment between SEEBRIG and KFOR. The shared commitment to peace and stability in the region underscores the significance of such inter-organisational

exchanges.

In addition to the engagements at the headquarters level, SEEBRIG delegation visited Regional Command East (RC-E), one of the two principal subordinate units within the KFOR mission. Colonel Peter HELZER of the United States Army, commander of RC-E, along with his staff, delivered a detailed and insightful briefing on the command’s role and contributions to the broader KFOR mandate. The visit offered a valuable perspective on the tactical and operational dimensions of peacekeeping efforts in the region, further informing SEEBRIG’s approach to similar missions.

This visit marks a step forward in fostering greater synergy among regional security actors committed to peace and stability in Southeastern Europe. Through continued dialogue and cooperation, SEEBRIG and KFOR aim to enhance their effectiveness in addressing complex security challenges through unified and well-coordinated efforts.
