South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG) - formation established by seven participating nations in order to contribute to the regional security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area

SEEBRIG in 2026: The three R’s, shaping the Way Ahead – Readiness, Relevance, and Relocation

2025 was a highly challenging year, with SEEBRIG HQ proving its readiness through the successful completion of Exercise SEVEN STARS 25, continuing up the Increasing Relevance path and witnessing the SEDM-CC/PMSC Chairmanship Hand-over, marking continuity and cooperation in the South-Eastern Europe region

As SEEBRIG looks ahead into 2026, the Brigade enters a new phase of development guided by three strategic pillars: Readiness, Relevance, and Relocation. The “Three R’s” represent not only the HQ’ operational priorities, but also a clear vision for strengthening SEEBRIG’s role as a credible, adaptable, and forward-looking multinational military organization in South-Eastern Europe.

Readiness: Prepared for Today and Tomorrow

Readiness lies at the heart of SEEBRIG’s operational effectiveness. In 2026, continued emphasis will be placed on training, exercises (the main effort being the Planning process for Ex. SEVEN STARS 2027), and staff development to ensure that the Brigade is prepared to respond swiftly and effectively when called upon.

Enhancing interoperability among contributing nations affiliated units, refining procedures, and investing in professional development are key elements of this effort. Readiness is not only about operational readiness, but also about cultivating a shared culture of professionalism, discipline, and excellence across the multinational team.

Relevance: Strengthening the Role of SEEBRIG

Maintaining and enhancing relevance remains a core objective for SEEBRIG in 2026. In an evolving security environment, the Brigade continues to adapt its mission focus, activities, and partnerships to respond effectively to regional and international demands.

Through active participation in multinational exercises, closer cooperation with NATO, partner nations, and regional initiatives, SEEBRIG reinforces its value as a platform for regional military diplomacy, confidence-building, and crisis management. Continuing to refine the Engineer Task Force concept to increase its status as a credible and reliable regional emergency relief and humanitarian intervention capability is a key pillar of SEEBRIG’s effort to increase its relevance and visibility. Relevance also means aligning capabilities and objectives with contemporary security challenges, ensuring that SEEBRIG remains a meaningful contributor to stability and cooperation in South-Eastern Europe.

Relocation: A New Chapter, Stronger Foundations

Relocation is, by far, the greatest challenge ahead of SEEBRIG in 2026! It stands as one of the most visible and transformative steps for SEEBRIG as the relocation process is more than a physical move—it is an opportunity to modernize infrastructure, improve working conditions, and enhance coordination within the Headquarters. By transitioning to a new environment, a new host nation , SEEBRIG aims to ensure greater efficiency, improved connectivity, and a setting that better supports multinational cooperation.

This step reflects the Brigade’s commitment to adaptability and long-term sustainability, ensuring that SEEBRIG remains well-positioned to meet both current and future challenges.

Looking Ahead

Together, the R’s triad – Readiness, Relevance, and Relocation – form a coherent as well as challenging road-map for SEEBRIG in 2026. These three pillars reinforce one another, enabling the Brigade to evolve while staying true to its core mission and values.

As SEEBRIG moves forward, the dedication of its personnel, the support of member nations, and the shared commitment to cooperation will remain the driving forces behind success. Guided by the Three R’s, SEEBRIG is prepared to face the future with confidence, unity, and purpose.

“One Team, One Mission”.
